Saskatchewan is one of Canada’s prairie provinces with badlands, hills, enormous forests and thousands of lakes and rivers. On the prairie’s flat grasslands, grains such as wheat and rye are grown. Due to not getting enough rain, few trees grow on the prairie. After becoming an official province in 1905, Saskatchewan was called the Canada’s breadbasket. Towns grew around railway stations where loads of trains with wheat were shipped. Also during the harvest season, there was a lot of farming. Now, Saskatchewan is big in farming. Produces the top cereal crops and most of the Canada’s wild rice. Saskatchewan has mines and factories as well as farms. Oil seeds, such as canola are the second largest crop. The province is rich in minerals and fossil fuels too. Saskatchewan mines produce more uranium than anywhere else in the world.
